Sample of a Health Plan Analysis

Dear
Premiums for your family age group start at $357 a month
The $500 or $1000 deductible plan with RX would get your families' premium down to $618 - $717 vs $933 your paying now and still keep your out of pocket down.

Your copay out of pocket PER PERSON would be $3750.
(Right now you have NO deductible and a $2000 annual cap on your major medical copays.)

Prescription would change from your $15/50% coverage now to
an annual $500 deductible and then 50% coverage on most RX.

Regular office visits would be $25, specialists $35 with NO deductible.
Lab, xray, and hospitial care would be out of your pocket until you meet the per person deductible.
Hospital  costs, after deductible, would be $750 per day up to $3750 per admisssion

                                            In a nutshell:
The total out of pocket for each family member would go up to $3750 plus the deductible  That raises your risk from what you have now but still caps it off so your exposure is still limited.

This type of plan is typical of what I see most people buying today but I always advise you to have some savings or a payment plan should someone have a a serious health year to pay those higher copays. In the meantime you are saving quite a bit in premium.

If you save enough in taxes on your premium, you may not want to cut back too hard on the one thing you can write off your taxes, esp as a self employed person.  Or you might consider an HSA plan to save more taxes....however only a few individuals come out ahead with that kind of plan....very different than what you have now. Talk to me if you are interested.
Your CPA can advise you on tax savings you qualify for in regards to health insurance.
